  Providing Tools for  Life

THE SIX INTERVENTIONS: Six Psychotherapeutic Workshops

developed by David Brown and Vanda Selby

CHILD, ABUNDANCE, LOSS & GRIEF, WARRIOR, LOVER, DIVINE

The Six Interventions course has arisen out of an earlier course and e-book, the Six Initiations, which was published in 2006.  Our work with many groups with this material has finally led to the writing of this course.  We offer the course to interested groups and also offer training to group leaders interested in working with this course.

These workshops have been helpful to people with a wide variety of issues such as depression, dealing with illness, addiction, bereavement and low self esteem.  They have also been useful to many counsellors and psychotherapists as part of their continuous professional development.

The course addresses key issues in people’s lives and provides participants with tools they can use to live more happily and successfully.

The Inner Child, for example, has needs for love and play that must be met.

The flow of Abundance into one's life and out onto the world also needs to be accepted and enjoyed, not blocked or sabotaged.

Loss and grief need to be acknowledged, experienced and dealt with, not denied and repressed.

The Warrior within, able to act assertively rather than aggressively, is needed for us to live effectively, and to take responsibility for the tasks and challenges of life.

Love and Compassion need to be accepted and expressed in our lives so that lives are lived from the heart as well as from the mind, and so that we can be of service and support to others and to ourselves.

Finally, the Divine or Higher Power can be experienced and integrated into life.

WORKING WITH THE ELEMENTS : Six Psychotherapeutic Workshops

EARTH, WATER, FIRE, AIR, ETHER & INTO THE WORLD

Earth has qualities of groundedness and practicality needed for success in the world

Water has qualities of flow and relationship needed for a life lived in harmony with the world.

Fire has qualities of warmth and brightness needed to overcome difficulties and for motivation.

Air has qualities of light-heartedness and freedom needed to embrace change and to enjoy life.

Ether has qualities of spaciousness and perspective needed for a peaceful and intuitive understanding of the world.

All of the elements are needed in balance for a full and healthy life, none of them too weak or too strong, and judgement and discrimination are needed to work with the elements and to take their qualities into the world.
